Ask how they will understand the business
An agency should be able to explain how it will learn about your customers, offer and current results. Be cautious of a detailed solution offered before anyone has asked what needs to change.
Make the work visible
Ask for a scope that sets out deliverables, responsibilities, review stages and exclusions. Check what counts as a revision and how additional requests are priced. A good working relationship is easier when expectations are clear.
Understand what the numbers mean
A rise in visits is not the same as a rise in qualified enquiries. Agree which measures reflect your goal, where the data comes from and how often you will review it. Ask how the agency handles uncertainty or an underperforming campaign.
Know what happens if you leave
Clarify who owns the website, creative files, advertising accounts and data. Ask about hosting access, cancellation terms and handover. You should understand the full commitment before signing.
